Biography
Michele Landa Riggio is the Director of Communications at PEN America. She is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and corporate sectors. Before PEN America, she spent four years as CEO of brand strategy consultancy MLR Communications, advancing infant and legacy brands. Before that, Riggio spent 14 years at Girl Scouts leading the organization’s PR and corporate communications efforts. During her tenure, she spearheaded its centennial campaign to advance gender equity. Earlier, she managed client accounts for PR/marketing agencies Ketchum and Weber Shandwick. She founded INSPIREflies, which spotlights and helps advance female entrepreneurship. Riggio graduated with a B.A. from Binghamton University with a dual concentration in Literature/Rhetoric and Spanish. She completed art and culinary coursework in France and England.
